With almost 3000 registered participants, the first session of this course, last autumn, was extremely successful. This new version of «Weighing the Universe» is enriched not only with new exercises, but also with new sections on cosmology and on gravitational waves.
This on-line course is free and can be accessed via the FUN platform (https://www.fun-mooc.fr/courses/OBSPM/62001S02/session02/about) of the National Ministry for Higher Education and Research.

- Caroline Barban
Researcher-lecturer (Maître de conférences) at the Laboratoire d’Etudes Spatiales et d’Instrumentation en Astrophysique (LESIA) and at the Unité de Formation et d’Enseignement (UFE) of the Paris Observatory. A specialist in stellar physics, she is involved in the space missions CoRoT (CNES), Kepler (NASA) and the forthcoming space observatory PLATO (ESA) which will study stellar interiors via asterosismologie. She heads the online University Diploma "Windows on the niverse" (licence-master level) and is co-head of the Astronomy and Astrophysics Master course, "Science of the Universe and Space technoloogy", of the Paris Observatory. - Alain Doressoundiram
Researcher-lecturer and Astronomer at the Laboratory for Space Studies and Instrumentation in Astrophysics (Laboratoire d’Etudes Spatiales et d’Instrumentation en Astrophysique - LESIA) and at the teaching unit (Unité de Formation et d’Enseignement - UFE) of the Paris Observatory. He is a specialist in the Solar System. His research targets inparticular the surfaces of planets and small bodies of the solar system. He teaches at the Licence and Master levels, and is also involved in teacher training. He is the Paris Observatory’s representative for the Master 2 Planetology Île de France and for the school class sponsorship programme. He is also deeply involved in the solar system space exploration missions, and is co-director for an instrument destined for the forthocming BepiColombo mission (a mission to Mercury in 2017). - Emeric Bron
Currently on a post-doctoral contract at the Institut de Sciences des Matériaux de Madrid (ICMM - the Madrid Institute for the science of materials) after having worked as an Attaché Temporaire d’Enseignement et de Recherche (ATER) at tehe Laboratoire d’Etudes du Rayonnement et de la Matière en Astrophysique et Atmosphères (LERMA) of the Paris Observatory. with a Ph.D. in astrophysics, his research is cented on the study of interstellar clouds and in particular on the interadction between interstellar dust, gas and radiation in regions of star formatiion. - Alexandre le Tiec
Chargé de recherche CNRS at the Laboratoire de l’Univers et de ses Théories (LUTH) of the PARIS Observatory. His research is cented on black holes, gravitational waves and cosmology. He lectures on general relativity at the Master 2 Recherche "Astronomy and Astrophysics" of the Paris Observatory.

- Benoît Mosser
Professor at the Laboratory for Space Studies and Instrumentation in Astrophysics (Laboratoire d’Etudes Spatiales et d’Instrumentation en Astrophysique - LESIA) of the Paris Observatory. Asteroseismologist, he analyses the vibrations of stars in order to understand their structure. He heads the space engineering master "Tools and systems in astronomy and space" et is responsible for the project which created the on-line module Windows on the Universe.
