Presentation 1 : Oral
Alfven waves in accretion disk coronae (PNST)
Michel Tagger and Peggy Varnière
We will present the Accretion-Ejection Instability, found to occur in the inner region of magnetized accretion disks. We will show how it has the unique characteristic of emitting upward, to the corona of the disk, Alfvén waves carrying part of the energy and angular momentum the instability extracts from the disk. We find that this mechanism is highly efficient, and could feed a jet and/or fast wind if the wave can be absorbed in the corona. We will also discuss future plans to study another mechanism, possibly connected to the physics of the solar corona: how the extension of the instability above the disk could also heat the corona.
