Review on the dust sub-millimetre emission in the prospect of the Planck and Herschel satellites
Stepnik B., Lagache G.
The dust far-infrared and sub-millimetre emission is and will be intensively used to trace the matter and the physical conditions in Universe (distant and nearby galaxies, interstellar medium, …). To use it safely we must have a very accurate idea of the dust properties itself.
In the prospect of the future sub-millimetre satellites, i.e. Planck and Herschel, I will review the far-infrared and sub-millimetre dust properties in interstellar medium. I will present a recent description of dust physical evolution with density from diffuse to dense medium (at an angular scale of few arc minutes), and use it to simulate the dust sub-millimetre emission of nearby molecular clouds.
