We report on the status of the OHANA project which goal is to coherently recombine the telescopes of the Mauna Kea observatory. The first phase of the project has been initiated and first tentative observations occured at CFHT in January 2002 where we have combined light into single mode fibers at the adaptive optics corrected focus. The second phase of the project has also started. The first baseline to be tested will link Gemini to CFH. The design of the instrument has started in Meudon. We will present the current concept and the goals we wish to achieve.
