Formation and Evolution of Dust Clumps around cool stars
Niccolini, G., Woitke, P., Lopez, B.
High angular observations of the envelope of IRC+10216 (Tuthill et al.
2000) show the presence of un-homogeneous structures. This might be
interpreted by the presence of dust clumps around the central star.
In order to study the temporal evolution and the formation of such clumps
we must couple radiative transfer and dust formation processes. We have
developed a 2D code solving radiative transfer in dusty media. A more
general version of this code describes the coupling of radiative transfer
and dust processes, the dust part being handled by another code treating
time-dependent heterogeneous growth and evaporation of carbon grains
(Gali & Sedlmayer 1988). We present the methods used to solve the
radiative transfer problem and the coupling to dust formation processes.
Some test calculation showing the evolution of a dust clump close to
a cool evolved star are also prestend.
