Observing black holes with gravitational waves (PCHE)
Eric Gourgoulhon
Gravitational waves are the only radiation that a black hole can emit by itself (the Hawking radiation being negligible for astrophysical black holes). I shall give a review of the various processes by which black holes emit gravitational waves and present the prospects for detection by VIRGO/LIGO or LISA. Both stellar black holes and galactic nuclei black holes will be discussed.

Have strange quark stars been observed ? (PCHE)
Eric Gourgoulhon
NASA has recently announced that two strange quark stars have been discovered thanks to observations with the Chandra satellite. After having presented briefly the concept of strange quark star, stressing the main differences with respect to neutron stars, I shall discuss this announcement.
