ATTILA - measuring the atmospheric tilt from its chromaticity (ASHRA)
Julien Girard, Renaud Foy (CRAL)
In the present poster, we describe ATTILA (the ATmospheric TIlt LAb), a modular system which we are implementing to attempt the first measurement of chromatic differential tilts in astronomical conditions. Natural star fluxes through narrow spectral band-passes will simulate the discrete spectrum obtained from a polychromatic artificial star created in the mesospheric sodium layer. We plan to carry out several observation campaigns at the Observatoire de Haute Provence's (coudé focus) 1.52 m telescope starting at the end of 2002. These campaigns include measurements of telescope vibrations with two pendular seismometers developed at CRAL as well as two data processing methods to recover the differential image motions.
