The submm spectrum of nearby galaxies (PNG)

We have undertaken a survey of the main gas cooling lines
at submm wavelengths in nearby galaxies. The same submillimeter
lines have now been detected towards distant QSOs with
mm interferometer. We present recent results on our survey
which will be useful for comparing nearby and distant star
forming galaxies.
