Space Weather: from fundamental to application-oriented research;PNST

Many research topics that used to be considered as solar-terrestrial physics, are nowadays relabeled as space weather. There is indeed a growing demand for a better understanding of how solar activity may adversely affect technological systems, and endanger human life. However, as both the US and Europe have initiated ambitious space weather programmes, there remains an important issue to keep a link between fundamental research and user-dedicated applications. This presentation will provide a short overview of what a future european space weather programme might be like.
