Influence of thermodynamical processes on the galaxy mass function
COURTY S., ALIMI J.-M.
We compute the galaxy mass function using numerical simulations of
large scale structure formation. We use an eulerian
hydrodynamical/N-Body code including radiative cooling, galaxy
formation and thermal non-equipartition processes between the species
electrons, neutrals and ions. We show that galaxy-like object mass
function at z=0 is fitted by a double power law Schechter function
whose slopes are very close to the ones obtained by fitting the
observed galaxy luminosity function. We point out that
non-equipartition processes modify the mass function at high redshift
and for low mass galaxy-like object.
